34M Indonesians’ Passport Information Stolen; Email Exposes Vulnerable Children’s Data

CPO Magazine reported that a hacker has allegedly stolen the passport data of 34 million Indonesian citizens. The hacker is said to be offering 4GB of the stolen passport data for USD 10,000 on a hacking forum, as per information from the founder of Ethical Hacker Indonesia. Indonesian authorities are currently investigating the data breach.

According to Stuff, names and contact emails of youth attending a child development centre in New Zealand were exposed in an email mistakenly sent to other parents and guardians. Te Whatu Ora Hospital and Specialist Services, responsible for the error, stated that they are collaborating with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner to review and enhance their external email-sending procedures. The organization also plans to provide staff with privacy training to increase awareness and ensure compliance.
